Yesterday I went to see you and your brother play basketball. You did great, making 4 baskets! Your mother Andrew and I left a little early to get Andrew to his game. You and your father followed shortly.
I suggested you take a shower to get rid of all the sweat from your game. You refused and said you didn't want to come over for the planned sleepover. Your mother took you into your bedroom for an "attitude adjustment". It worked and you changed your mind. So you and Andrew packed up your new sleeping bags and your mother packed a backpack. You wanted to bring along your new Battle Ship game and a movie. Then off we went in my car. When we arrived at the house we smelled the cookies that Mr. Bob and made for you and Andrew.
Instead of going to the movie you both decided that you wanted to go to CrackerJax to play miniature golf and some games. Afterwords we went to Target to get the Leggo blade thing you and your brother both wanted.
You played the Leggo game with Andrew, we watched a movie you brought over and I made pancakes from scratch for dinner. You helped mix it up and asked for chocolate chips to be added. I did and you said they were excellent. The best ever.
Later you both fell asleep in front of the TV.
You woke up about 1:00 and crawled beside me on the sofa. A little later Andrew was on the sofa.
Then around 3:00 you were up because you said your were scared, blaming me for the Dracula comedy we watched on NetFlix for a very short while. Andrew was really getting into it, but I switched to something else. You couldn't fall asleep and I tried to get the TV on, but without any success. Finally I got a flashlight and fixed it and then you watched TV until about 5:00. Then you crawled back on the sofa with me and finally fell asleep.
I made pancakes, without the chocolate chips, for breakfast and you had some chocolate milk.
Then we packed up for our hike. Filled up water, packed muffins and cookies, phone, wipes, trash bag, etc.
Unfortunately, after we planned for a two hour hike you decided you didn't want to do it. Don't have a clue why you changed your mind. You just started to walk down the hill. I was scared that I couldn't catch up with you that someone might take you. We finally hooked up, but I was very upset that you were trying to control us without compromising. If you didn't want a long hike, then we would have done a shorter one. However, I was not able to get you to LISTEN or COMPROMISE. That's when I came up with this. TLC usually stands for Tender Loving Care. I think it can also stand for THINK, LISTEN and COMPROMISE. I hope you remember this throughout your life.
Today I called to tell you how much I love you and you apologized for your behavior yesterday. That made me feel a lot better, but your parents won't let you come for a sleep over for a long time. The whole thing made me so sad. But I don't and never have rewarded bad behavior. I hope you will improve as you get older. You must have the 7 year something, but I love you just the same.
