Sleepover, January 29, 2011

On Friday, your mother took you and your brother to get your hair cut at a new place.  After the hair cut they washed your hair and massaged your head.  Here's a photo you mother sent to me titled "Spa Boy".

Yesterday I went to see you and your brother play basketball.  You did great, making 4 baskets!  Your mother Andrew and I left a little early to get Andrew to his game.  You and your father followed shortly.

I suggested you take a shower to get rid of all the sweat from your game.  You refused and said you didn't want to come over for the planned sleepover.  Your mother took you into your bedroom for an "attitude adjustment".  It worked and you changed your mind.  So you and Andrew packed up your new sleeping bags and your mother packed a backpack.  You wanted to bring along your new Battle Ship game and a movie.  Then off we went in my car.  When we arrived at the house we smelled the cookies that Mr. Bob and made for you and Andrew.

Instead of going to the movie you both decided that you wanted to go to CrackerJax to play miniature golf and some games.  Afterwords we went to Target to get the Leggo blade thing you and your brother both wanted.

You played the Leggo game with Andrew, we watched a movie you brought over and I made pancakes from scratch for dinner.  You helped mix it up and asked for chocolate chips to be added.  I did and you said they were excellent.  The best ever.

We were in my office playing checkers and you and Andrew decided to play Tic Tack Toe.  We also played cards and had lots of fun.

Later you both fell asleep in front of the TV.

You woke up about 1:00 and crawled beside me on the sofa.  A little later Andrew was on the sofa.

Then around 3:00 you were up because you said your were scared, blaming me for the Dracula comedy we watched on NetFlix for a very short while.  Andrew was really getting into it, but I switched to something else.  You couldn't fall asleep and I tried to get the TV on, but without any success.  Finally I got a flashlight and fixed it and then you watched TV until about 5:00.  Then you crawled back on the sofa with me and finally fell asleep.

I made pancakes, without the chocolate chips, for breakfast and you had some chocolate milk.

Then we packed up for our hike.  Filled up water, packed muffins and cookies, phone, wipes, trash bag, etc.

Unfortunately, after we planned for a two hour hike you decided you didn't want to do it.  Don't have a clue why you changed your mind.  You just started to walk down the hill.  I was scared that I couldn't catch up with you that someone might take you.  We finally hooked up, but I was very upset that you were trying to control us without compromising.  If you didn't want a long hike, then we would have done a shorter one.  However, I was not able to get you to LISTEN or COMPROMISE.  That's when I came up with this.  TLC usually stands for Tender Loving Care.  I think it can also stand for THINK, LISTEN and COMPROMISE.  I hope you remember this throughout your life.

Today I called to tell you how much I love you and you apologized for your behavior yesterday.  That made me feel a lot better, but your parents won't let you come for a sleep over for a long time.  The whole thing made me so sad.  But I don't and never have rewarded bad behavior.  I hope you will improve as you get older.  You must have the 7 year something, but I love you just the same.

Basketball Game January 22, 2011

We all went to Andrews game first and you wanted to take photos, so you took one of your dad and one with him spinning the ball.

Then off to your game.

You made three baskets and stole the ball away from one of the team white players.  You are getting so good.

I just love your new shoes.

Between games and team photos, your mother made an XBOX character for me.  Your father said he would change my hair to gray, when I wasn't around.

While the NFL Play Off games were on TV yesterday,  you were doing this.

Super Bowl XLV (45th) will be between the Steelers and Greenbay.  You want Green Bay and I want the Steelers because I was born about 100 miles north of Pittsburgh.

Family Night, January 19, 2011

Came over to your house for Family Night. I rode your mothers bike to school to pick you and Andrew up. You were surprised. Andrew insisted on walking his bike home, so I put his helmet and pack back in the bike's basket. It fell out twice and I almost fell over with it. I had not ridden a bike in about 20+ years. I did great.

You rode way ahead, but did come back.  Andrew fell with his bike and you went back to check on him.  What a nice brother you are.

Mr. Bob sent you and Andrew a "Star Wars" JibJab. You love those JibJabs almost as much as Andrew.

You mother got you and your brother sleeping bags with a water bottle and a flashlight.  They are awesome and you can bring them over for your next sleepover.

Return from Hawaii

Mr. Bob and I returned from Hawaii on Wednesday the 12th.  You, your brother and mother all were sick so I did not get to see you until this morning.

Went to your basketball game this morning and watched you run the ball up and down the court and made one basket that was a "swish".  You ran down the court with both arms up as Uncle Bruce, your mother and I yelled.  It was an exciting game and you have improved so very, very much.

Here are some photos from the game.
